Personal Coaching Can Help

Updated: Apr 16

Most entrepreneurs, professional athletes and entertainers have a personal coach or mentor to help them succeed. As a former MLB player and scout I know the value of having your own professional coach to keep you focused and on point, as you build on your strengths, identify your weaknesses, and strive towards your goals with structure, and a plan. A good coach will keep you in a positive mindset, while holding you accountable. Should anxiety creep in, he will suggest ways to eliminate those anxious feelings. Its' important to have an accountability partner to keep you focused, day in and day out. Process and consistency are paramount. After developing mutual trust, which is very important in any relationship, a good personal coach will listen, observe, instruct, counsel, motivate, inspire and keep you accountable for your actions, or inactions. Utilizing positive psychology, they'll let you make mistakes, as you will, and allow you to learn from your mistakes without judgement. They will design a plan, that you understand, for you to follow, and give you small projects to work on that will help you build self-confidence, your skills and habits as you progress in reaching your ultimate objective. 3 steps forward, 1 step back, that's ok, as long as you stay with the process, and keep your eye on the prize. In sports we call it building 'muscle memory', in personal coaching, and neuroscience its' called Hebbs' law building 'neurons that fire and wire together'. Anyone looking to better themselves in any aspect of their life knows the value of answering to someone in helping them transform their dreams into reality. More than a friend or relative, your own coach will be objective, supportive, and direct with you, with compassion. They won't answer for you, but they will ask the right questions. That's how I am as a personal coach, direct, compassionate, and motivating, while keeping you focused on your stated objective. And with your own remote personal coach you have the advantage of speaking to someone privately, about anything, from anywhere without the fear of judgement, gossip, or exposing any vulnerabilities or personal fears you don't want to share with friends, or family. Which is why mutual trust is important.

Most of the time the people closest to you don't want to upset you, by asking or telling you things you don't want to hear. Although they have good intentions, occasionally they are enabling or hurting you in the long run. That's just human nature, and sometimes good intentions have unintended consequences. Also, unfortunately, some friends have subconscious bias's or envy regarding your success. They may want you to succeed, but not too much, for fear you might leave them behind, or expose the fact that they themselves don't have the discipline and motivation you have shown in beginning the process, and eventually reaching your goal and improving your life. I know this sounds harsh, but I think you know its' true. As you can see by my style, I get right to the point. We get to the truth, whatever it is, then we figure out a plan together, to get you where you say you want to go. We answer the question, -do you really want to get there, and why, and are you willing to pay the price of commitment, discipline, motivation, and laser focus, or do you just like to hear yourself talk, and engage in 'busy work'. Do you have built in bias's and excuses before you even start. Do you have a normal fear of failure, or is it the more insidious, subconscious fear of success that holds you back. Any good professional coach should ask the real questions, get to the truth, then verify by your actions, and give you objective, positive feedback. Sounds a little scary, I know, but ask yourself this;

What if it works ! Visualize your life - What if it Works !

Michael Jordan once said "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"

You're an athlete in the game of life, get yourself a coach, Stay strong, stay safe.
